May Tells the Story

Hello All.


I hate to be the bearer of negative news, but I emailed most of you a few days ago about posting on digg to give the site more exposure and help keep us alive. Here is my best guess at what we are in store for in Apr/May.


1. Thank you to those who took the 2 or 3 minutes  to post on digg. Unfortunately only a few made the effort and even though it is appreciated it may not be enough.


2. We are going to fall short in April. Why?  Server cost has increased.  Bottom line:  Cost increased dramatically while ad revenue became less. I’m not sure if this is going to be a trend or temporary. Lets hope it is temporary.


3. In May we will decide if we can keep our sites open based on income generated from the site (ads). I would like to think this down time for ad revenue is temporary and we will recover. Maybe it is a Spring thing but my guess is it has something to do with the economy.


4.. If we close the doors, we will do our best to give you a heads up in case you want to copy any of your blogs, comments, etc but I can’t guarantee it.  If there is a sudden closure and we could not notify you, it is because we could not pay the bill and our host closed our sites without notice.


5. POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS:


(1) give the site more exposure (i.e digg)  to increase traffic and ad revenue. But even if you help with this today, it still takes a few months before search engines pick up the results.


(2) Donation button was added for those who want to help. Some emailed me about not having credit or debit cards. Sorry, PayPal is the only option I can find for a donation button that was free to use.


 (3) Spread the word - especially ladies in the Philippines – the more people who know about our site, the more traffic we receive.


Ok, I wanted to keep this short...sorry. I guess I’m wordy because the sites have become a  project of love and it is hard for me to imagine shutting down because I can’t find a way to keep them going.


My hope is in May I can see light at the end of the tunnel where revenue v.s. cost is on an up swing, but for the last few months it has been a downward spiral.


Maybe all it is going to take is getting over the April hump to keep things going until things turn around.


Ok, didn’t mean to rain on anyone’s parade, but wanted to keep you informed so you did not wake up one morning  in May  and suddenly  find   the site closed by my host without any explanation because I was late or could not pay the bill. Server Hosts are not always very forgiving. They will close you in a heart beat, even if you are only a day late paying for your server.


Thanks to all for your support. Eileen and I hope everyone finds the same happiness and love that we found even if it is on another site -- to us, it doesn't matter where you find love, just so you find it and are happy.  It took me a little while to find the one meant for me, but it was worth every moment it took to find her. So never give up.
