Opposite of Love

If I took a poll and asked, “what is the opposite of love” I’m sure many would say “hate”. I don’t believe so. I believe the opposite of love is “indifference.”

Love and hate both can stir similar emotions. I’m sure many have been in a relationship where love has fallen apart and hatred has set in. However, to hate, you are still being moved by your feelings for the other person. You can’t feel love or hate, unless the other person moves you in some way. Some say there is a thin line of difference, if any, between love and hate.

The worse feeling in the world is not to be able to move someone you love. No matter what you say or do, the other person simply does not care. They are so indifferent to your feelings that they can’t even feel hatred towards you. In other words, their emotions can’t be moved and they are indifferent to how you feel about them.

So if you fall in love and they are still screaming obscenities at you, you are still pushing their emotional buttons. But if you fall in love with someone and they can walk away without any emotions no matter what you say or do, you have just met indifference, where love can’t survive or be rekindled.

This is why I say that the opposite of love is not hate, but indifference.

EXACTLY! it's when you become indifferent to a person.... coz if you say that you hate someone you still feel something for that person or you still care in the slightest thing there is... but when you become indifferent, that's the time where you actually don't care... and you can actually make that person feel that s/he is no longer important to you.... got it from my THEOLOGY professor in UST.. and made a lot of sense
